About Our Partnership

The mission of the Virginia Business-K12 Partnership is to raise awareness of the vital connection between K12 education and economic growth/workforce development.

We bring together business and K12 leaders across the Commonwealth to develop consensus strategies for strengthening our schools, growing the economy, and creating pathways to opportunity for all Virginians.

Our Six Pillars

We are focusing our work on six pillars:

Educational Quality and Competitiveness

Providing the accountable public school investments necessary to maintain Virginia’s competitive advantage as a national leader in educating children of all ages, preparing talented workers, and attracting job-creating business investment.

Career and College Pathways

Ensuring that all middle school and high school students can explore and access talent pathways that prepare them for success in higher education or skilled trade programs, employment in the field of their choice, or service in the military.

Preparation for the Future Workplace

Aligning educational curriculum, career counseling, and work-based learning with the employer needs and employment opportunities of the fast-changing workplace, with particular attention to the job and career transformation resulting from rapid advances in AI.

Self-Sufficiency and Civic Responsibility

Renewing emphasis on civic, economic, financial, and technological literacy and facility so that all students are equipped to be self-sufficient, contributing members of society and the next generation of problem-solving leaders.

Enhanced Learning Environments and Technology

Investing in school construction, renovation, and high-speed internet access from school and home so all students can learn in an AI-shaped future, embedding AI literacy, responsible technology use, and critical evaluation and collaboration skills in career-connected learning.

Instructional Excellence

Recruiting, preparing, supporting, and retaining the nation’s top teachers and school leaders.
